Taiwan's Ministry of Education predicts a 456,000 drop in elementary-school students and a decrease in senior-high students by 2039.

Taiwan's student numbers are declining rapidly, with the Ministry of Education predicting a 456,000 drop in elementary-school students by 2039, to 779,000. The number of senior-high students is also expected to decrease to 421,000. The annual decline of about 29,000 elementary students is attributed to factors beyond the Chinese zodiac's influence on childbirth, according to the 2024-2039 student number estimation report.
