Himachal Pradesh's agriculture department set an ambitious target of producing 9.70 lakh metric tonnes of Kharif crops this season, aiming to sow maize, paddy, ragi, pulses, and other food grains across 368 lakh hectares of cultivable land. Maize has the highest target of 272 lakh hectares. The department remains optimistic about meeting these targets despite insufficient rain until mid-June.
