Fine Gael TD, Alan Farrell, has called for a review of how expenses are paid to TDs and Senators due to an anomaly where politicians are paid €16,000 more in travel and accommodation expenses compared to other public representatives in the same constituency. Farrell claims this is "inherently unfair at best and scandalous at worst". However, Peter Finnegan, Clerk of the Dáil, has stated the matter is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Expenditure and Minister Paschal Donohoe.
