Bangladesh appoints General Waker-Uz-Zaman as Chief of Army Staff, replacing General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman was appointed as the Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh and was adorned with the rank badge of General in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He replaces General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, with a three-year term starting from June 23. General Waker has an extensive experience in holding key command, staff, and instructional positions throughout his military career.
