22-year-old soldier Marlon Brumfield, mistaken for a rival gang member, was murdered by Walter Alexander Morales Jr., who received a 25-years-to-life sentence.
Walter Alexander Morales Jr. has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the 2019 murder of Marlon Brumfield, a 22-year-old soldier on leave, in Lompoc. Morales pled guilty to first-degree murder, with enhancements for committing the crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang and intentionally discharging a firearm causing death. The victim was mistakenly believed to be a rival gang member.
