UAE signs agreement with FAO to provide $5M for famine prevention in Sudan.

The UAE has signed an agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and prevent famine. The agreement was signed by Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs, and Guangzhou Qu, Director of the FAO Liaison Office in New York. The UAE contributes $5 million to FAO's project, "Mitigating Famine in Sudan - Support to Conflict-Affected Vulnerable Smallholder Farming and Pastoralist Households," which aims to provide emergency assistance to 275,000 vulnerable smallholder farmers and pastoralist households in Sudan for one year.
