Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, a political newcomer and real estate tycoon who became PM in August 2023, defended his frequent overseas visits during his first 10 months in office. Out of a total of 15 trips, some were for official ASEAN meetings, others with China, Japan and Sri Lanka, while other visits aimed to attract trade and investment. "It's necessary to go," he said in a recorded statement.
