Government procures 71,000 tonnes of onions for buffer stock, expecting retail prices to decrease with normal monsoon. As of June 20, 70,987 tonnes of onions have been procured, with an all-India average retail price of Rs 38.67 per kg. The target is to procure 5 lakh tonnes for price stabilization, and the current procurement pace is comparable to last year despite a 20% decline in rabi production.
