The process of sneezing, controlled by the "sneezing centre" in the brain's medulla, can sometimes pose greater risks of injury, particularly at points of weakness due to obesity, COPD, diabetes, or smoking. These risks include tearing delicate lung tissues when higher pressure is applied during a sneeze.
