Finance Minister Nirmal Sitharaman proposes states decide GST rate for petrol and diesel.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the Central Government intends to bring petrol and diesel under Goods and Services Tax (GST), and it is now up to the states to decide on the rate. Sitharaman mentioned that former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had already included petrol and diesel in the GST law, and the remaining step is for the states to come together and discuss the tax rate.
