British Columbia files class-action lawsuit against PFAS chemical manufacturers for water contamination costs.
British Columbia has filed a class-action lawsuit against manufacturers of "forever chemicals" in an attempt to recover costs related to the widespread contamination of drinking water systems. The province is the first Canadian jurisdiction to sue makers of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS chemicals). The lawsuit targets 12 companies, including those associated with chemical giants 3M, DuPont, and BASF, and aims to ensure companies that created the problem and profited from these chemicals pay their fair share.
