BIS introduces safety standards for electric vehicles in India, including IS 18590, IS 18606, and IS 18294.

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced two new standards, IS 18590: 2024 & IS 18606: 2024, to enhance the safety and quality of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. These standards focus on the powertrain and battery safety, ensuring they meet stringent requirements. BIS also introduced IS 18294: 2023, which sets safety standards specifically for electric rickshaws and karts.
