The Ottawa Senators have signed Finnish defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 at the AHL level. The 25-year-old had a successful debut season in North America, playing four games with the Senators and 67 regular season games with the Belleville Senators, in which he recorded four goals, 10 assists, and 26 penalty minutes. The Senators praised Matinpalo's performance in both the AHL and NHL.
