Union Minister of Agriculture assures states of 100% procurement of Tur, Urad, and Masur at MSP, promoting diversification and self-sufficiency in pulse production.
Union Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has assured state governments that the centre will procure 100% of Tur, Urad, and Masur produced by farmers at minimum support prices (MSP) to promote crop diversification and achieve self-sufficiency in pulse production. Chouhan urged state governments to encourage more farmers to register on the e-Samridhi portal for assured procurement and utilise fallow lands for pulses after the rice harvest. The government aims to increase pulse production, reduce imports, and make India self-sufficient in foodgrains production while becoming a global food basket.
