UK retail sales rebounded by 2.9% in May, after a weather-affected drop of 1.8% in April. Food sales rose only 1.2%, but non-food retailers experienced a 3.5% increase, particularly in clothing, footwear, furniture, and sports goods sectors. The better weather and falling inflation boosted consumer confidence, although sales volumes remain 0.5% below pre-pandemic levels in February 2020.
