North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has appointed Brigadier General Mitchell R. Johnson as the new Adjutant General of the North Dakota National Guard and Director of the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services. Johnson succeeds Maj. Gen. Alan Dohrmann, who retires after nearly nine years as Adjutant General and over 40 years of military service. Johnson, who has served in various command and flying roles in North Dakota, Florida, Oklahoma, and Arkansas since 1998, will lead the state's 4,200 service members while maintaining strong relationships with Air Force bases in Grand Forks and Minot.
