Niteroi launches whale-watching program for humpback whale migration in Brazilian waters.

Rio de Janeiro's sister city, Niteroi, launched a whale-watching program that attracts tourists to observe humpback whales, which migrate to Brazilian waters from June to November for breeding. Around 25,000 humpback whales travel from feeding areas in Antarctica to northeast Brazil, with most concentrating in the Abrolhos region known for its marine biodiversity. The whale-watching program is a joint initiative by Niteroi's municipality and Amigos da Jubarte, a conservation initiative.
