NERC has approved N21bn for DisCos to purchase meters, addressing a significant metering gap in Nigeria's electricity supply industry. NERC data revealed that only 44.67% of the 13.4 million registered consumers had meters as of April 2024. The Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) is part of the Multi-Year Year Tariff Order and will enable utilities to accelerate meter deployment and close the metering gap.
