Malaysia's MCMC and police successfully foiled a data phishing attempt via SMS in a joint operation in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. A suspect was detained after sending phishing SMS to active line users. The suspect's activities were identified using spectrum analysis, causing disruption to the network service quality. Communication equipment believed to have been used by the suspect was also seized.
