Gardaí in Ireland spent nearly €1m on 16 new cars for ministerial transport since 2022, following a security review and rise in protests by far-right and racist extremists. The fleet, now at 37 vehicles, mostly runs on diesel. Gardaí plan to replace vehicles with hybrid or electric models as they reach the end of their service, but no vehicles have been disposed of or sold since August 2022.
