India's Consumer Affairs Ministry issues draft guidelines to curb unsolicited business communications.

India's Consumer Affairs Ministry has issued draft guidelines to curb unsolicited business communications, such as promotional calls and text messages. The guidelines classify any business communication as unsolicited and unwanted if it does not comply with the recipient's consent or registered preferences. The ministry seeks public comments on the draft guidelines until 21 July. The guidelines apply to all individuals and entities involved in such communications or benefiting from them, and also cover conditions that would make a communication unauthorised, such as using unregistered numbers or SMS headers.
