Greece plans to increase Athens' electric taxis from 100 to over 1,000 by 2026 through subsidies and leasing proposals.

Greece aims to increase Athens' electric taxis tenfold by 2026, targeting over 1,000 electric taxis. Currently, there are only 100 electric taxis among 13,661 vehicles. The Green Taxi scheme offers subsidies of up to €22,500 (40% of the cost) for new electric taxis, and the Zap Taxi Club, a private sector initiative, provides additional funds via a leasing proposal to help taxi drivers own electric cars.
