Former Assembly of First Nations (AFN) national chief RoseAnne Archibald is suing the organization for defamation and breach of contract, seeking $5M in damages. Archibald alleges that AFN and its executive engaged in unlawful steps against her, including suspending her as national chief. The federal Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, Gary Anandasangaree, stated that Ottawa's role is not to govern the internal accountability of the AFN, as it's based on trust.
