During his 22-year career, Mays was a 24-time All-Star, won two National League MVP Awards and captured 12 Gold Glove Awards, captivating generations of baseball fans. Mays began his professional career in the Negro American League in 1948, joining the then-New York Giants in 1951 and moving with the team to San Francisco in 1958. The iconic figure in baseball history was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 1979.
