Heerema Marine Contractors' SSCV Sleipnir semi-submersible crane vessel has begun a 5-week trial to test EverLoNG's ship-based carbon capture (SBCC) prototype, powered by LNG. The prototype aims to capture and store CO2 onboard for about 500 hours, then offload and transport it to an industrial site for utilization or permanent geological storage. The trial will assess the prototype's impact on the vessel's infrastructure and emissions, as well as the effects of motion and exhaust gas impurities on capture solvent performance.
