Tsawout First Nation has announced the purchase of a 99-acre farm on the Saanich Peninsula for $5.6m, with plans to build housing. The land, offered at a price well below market value as an act of reconciliation by the seller, increases the nation's land base by 15%. The First Nation is in talks to incorporate the Puckle Road property, which has a partial ALR designation, into its reserve lands.
