Sri Lanka's Postal Department, facing an annual loss of Rs 7bn, is considering raising the price of an ordinary postage stamp from Rs 50 to Rs 100 by July, according to Mass Media Ministry Secretary Anusha Palpita. This follows a salary increase for postal employees costing Rs 2.8bn this year, contributing to the department's losses. The stamp price increase is subject to approval from the Treasury.
