South Korea's current account surplus with the US reached a record high of $91.25bn in 2023, according to the Bank of Korea, driven by strong demand for locally-made automobiles. Simultaneously, the current account deficit with China reduced to $30.98bn in 2023 from $8.45bn the previous year. The overall current account surplus for South Korea increased to $35.49bn in 2023 from $85.23bn in 2022.
