A cyberattack on Ascension, one of the nation's largest healthcare systems with 140 hospitals, has caused serious lapses in patient care. A nurse at an Ascension hospital in Wichita, Kansas, revealed a close call where he almost administered the wrong dose of narcotic to a baby due to confusing paperwork. The May 8 ransomware attack locked providers out of key systems, including electronic health records, some phones, and those used to order tests and procedures.
