New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is disappointed by Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora's decision not to employ graduate nurses due to ongoing "cost-containment" cuts. Graduate nursing programmes' mid-year intakes will be paused, except for those recruited externally into specialist services. NZNO Chief Executive Paul Goulter believes this move shows a lack of commitment to growing & developing NZ's nursing workforce.
