2023-24: Indian government monetized Rs 1.56 trillion assets under NMP, falling short of Rs 1.8 trillion target.

The Indian government monetised assets worth Rs 1.56 trillion in 2023-24 under the National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP), falling short of the target of Rs 1.8 trillion. The NMP aims to monetise the central government's brownfield infrastructure assets worth Rs 6 trillion over a four-year period from FY22 to FY25. As of 2023-24, cumulative monetisation reached Rs 3.85 trillion since the launch of the programme in 2020-21. The ministry of road transport and highways and the ministry of coal were the top two achievers with total monetisation receipts of Rs 97,000 crore.
