FDA approves clinical trial for high-resolution brain recording device PtNRGrid at UCSD.
The FDA approved a clinical trial for the PtNRGrid, a high-resolution brain recording device developed at the University of California San Diego. The thin, flexible grid features 1,024 or 2,048 embedded ECoG sensors and can record electrical brain signals in unprecedented detail. The device may improve neurosurgeons' ability to minimize damage to healthy brain tissue and precisely identify seizure origin sites for epilepsy treatment.
