Buenos Aires Eco-park has transformed from being a zoo that displayed animals for profit to an ecopark dedicated to treating injured wild animals from across Argentina, and now boasts the largest biobank in South America. The former city zoo now houses only a few "legacy animals," including two hippos, geriatric giraffes, aged elephants, and an arthritic camel. The eco-park has gained public and conservationist support.
