Donegal's Mark English broke his own Irish 800m record with a time of 1:44.69 at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, securing his place at the Paris Olympics. The 31-year-old's time was just under the Olympic 'A' qualifying standard of 1:44.70, marking his third Olympic Games appearance. English finished second in the race, behind Sweden's Andreas Kramer.
