Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the ancient ruins of Nalanda in Rajgir, Bihar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before inaugurating the new campus of Nalanda University. The ruins include stupas, shrines, viharas (residential and educational buildings), and important artworks. Nalanda University, considered one of the first residential universities in the world, has a long history as a center of learning.
