US-based chipmaker Onsemi plans a $2bn investment in its Czech Republic production facility in Roznov pod Radhostem, marking the largest single foreign investment since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993. The investment aims to expand production capacity, increase employment from 1,700 to around 3,000, and boost the advanced power semiconductor supply chain for European and global customers, particularly in sectors such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and AI data centers.
