Offaly TD Carol Nolan warns Government that failure to reduce the current 13.5% VAT rate for hospitality, tourism, and retail sectors may lead to widespread business closures. Nolan and her Rural Independent Group colleagues called for an immediate VAT rate reduction during a private member's debate. The group proposes a 9% VAT rate for the hospitality sector and a 5% rate for rural tourism and hospitality providers.
