New Zealand's current account deficit narrowed to $27.6bn (6.8% of GDP) in the year to March, according to a report by Stats NZ. The deficit was $27.9bn (6.9% of GDP) in the December 2023 year. The size of the current account balance, in relation to GDP, shows its significance in the context of New Zealand's overall economy. The seasonally-adjusted current account deficit widened by $0.3bn to $7.3bn in the March quarter.
