New Jersey has fined Walmart $1.64m to settle charges that its 64 stores in the state used illegal pricing practices, making it difficult for consumers to comparison shop. The settlement includes a $1.62m civil fine and is the largest obtained by the Office of Weights and Measures of the state Division of Consumer Affairs. Walmart was accused of violating New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act and Unit Pricing Disclosure Act by using inaccurate unit pricing for various grocery items.
