Malaysia and China signed an agreement to jointly nominate the lion dance for the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Malaysia's membership in the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia. The countries achieved this through a memorandum of understanding on tourism and a cultural exchange agreement. The collaboration was marked during Chinese Premier Li Qiang's official visit to Malaysia.
