Mumbai's Chembur Trombay Education Society's NG Acharya and DK Marathe College argued before the Bombay High Court that their ban on hijab, niqab, and burka was part of a uniform dress code, not aimed at targeting the Muslim community. Nine female students challenged the directive in the High Court, claiming it violated their fundamental rights to practice religion, privacy, and freedom of choice.
