Ecuador has suspended its visa waiver agreement with China due to a significant increase in irregular migration from China. Around 50% of Chinese nationals entering Ecuador did not leave through regular routes or within the 90-day permitted stay, leading Ecuador to reinstate visas for Chinese citizens from July 1. This follows Ecuador becoming a popular starting point for Chinese migrants traveling through Central America to reach the United States.
