The federal Coalition has proposed a nuclear power plant at Mount Piper, currently owned by EnergyAustralia and due to close in 2040. The Coalition aims to transition from coal to nuclear power. However, Lithgow City Council is against the move, stating they seek details from the Opposition about their jobs plan, workforce transition plan, and commitment to the site.
