The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) government has extended funding for CanTEST, Australia's first illegal pill-testing site, by $1.8 million until June 2027. Since its opening in July 2022, the service has tested over 2,600 samples and delivered over 3,600 health, alcohol, and drug interventions. The ACT government is committed to a harm minimization approach, with CanTEST providing chemical analysis of drugs and pills, drop-in nurse consultations, and a safe space for conversations about substance use and referrals to relevant services.
