Wisconsin Supreme Court to hear challenge against Evers' partial veto on school funding increase.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear a challenge against Democratic Governor Tony Evers' partial veto on a school funding increase that would last 400 years. The lawsuit, filed by the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce Litigation Center in April, argues that Evers exceeded his authority in making the veto. The veto, enacted in July 2023, increased the annual revenue public schools could raise per student by $325 until 2425. The justices have set a briefing schedule but have not elaborated further.
