US bankruptcy judge approves Express Inc. sale to WHP Global consortium, securing retail business and keeping most stores open for $174m.
A US bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of Express Inc's majority operations to a consortium led by brand acquisition and management firm WHP Global, securing the company's retail business and keeping most of its retail stores open. The deal includes $136m in cash and $38m in liabilities, for a combined $174m, and is set to close by 21 June, subject to customary conditions. Express Inc owns the Express, Bonobos, and UpWest brands and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April.
