Scotland missed its greenhouse gas emission reduction target for the 9th time in 13 years.

Scotland failed to meet its target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions for the ninth time in 13 years, with emissions dropping to 40.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, a 50% reduction since 1990. The target was a 53.8% reduction, set out in the Climate Change (Emissions Reduction Targets) (Scotland) Act. Despite lower emissions than the rest of the UK, critics argue the Scottish Government isn't doing enough and may lose credibility if it continues to miss climate targets.
