Carnival Corporation launches shore power at PortMiami, reducing emissions and noise for docked ships.

Carnival Corporation celebrates the launch of shore power at PortMiami, making it the first major cruise port on the US eastern seaboard to offer the service. Shore power allows ships to plug into landside electrical power while docked, reducing emissions and noise. Miami-Dade County, Florida Power & Light Company, and several cruise lines partnered to implement the system, with PortMiami now offering up to 16 megawatts for docked ships' power needs.
