2024: African ICT ministers endorse Continental AI Strategy and African Digital Compact for digital transformation.
African ICT & Communications Ministers have unanimously endorsed the Continental Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the African Digital Compact to propel Africa's digital transformation. Over 130 ministers and experts gathered virtually from June 11-13, 2024, for the 2nd Extraordinary session of the Specialized Technical Committee on Communication and ICT. The Continental AI Strategy aims to guide African nations in harnessing AI, promoting ethical use, and minimising potential risks, while leveraging opportunities for inclusive growth.
