2023 saw a 24% increase in global offshore wind capacity, reaching 75.2 GW, with GWEC forecasting 410 GW installed by 2030.
2023 marked the second-highest annual installations of offshore wind capacity, despite challenges in key markets. With a 24% increase from the previous year, the global offshore wind capacity now stands at 75.2 GW. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) forecasts that 410 GW of new offshore wind capacity will be installed by 2030, bringing offshore wind deployment in line with the global targets to install 380 GW by 2030. The majority of this growth is expected to come at the turn of the decade, with two-thirds installed between 2029 and 2033.
